MIXED MEDIA CARD

Mixed media card

Layers upon layers of different mediums gives you a mixed media card. These layers add texture and depth to any card. You can use any stamps and any shapes, the ideas are limitless, the key is to layer with as many mediums as you want. The sky's the limit! Here's a step by step on this card I did recently for a What's Up Wednesday.

Take a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 9.5cm x 13.8cms and using Pecan Pie and a blending brush, cover the page making sure different depths of colour, not the one tone all over.

Next layer take a background stamp of your choice I used the text one from the Gorgeously Made stamp set. Ensure when stampin in mixed media projects to use a permanent ink so I stamped this in Stazon. Stamp and stamp off so that this had different colour depth as well.

Next layer take a stencil of your choice and using White Craft ink refil mixed with a little water onto a Silicone craft mat and using an old paint brush or one of your water painter, dab the white ink in small sections of the card front.

Place about half a teaspoon of the white embossing paste onto the silicone craft mat and drop a small amount of Pecan Pie re-inker and mix. Spread randomly onto your card front. Ensure you wash you stencil and palette knife straight away.

Now for a big of Bling, Using the same (or another shaped stencil and apply heat and stick powder and heat. Apply gold gilded leafing.

When the embossing paste is dry, distress the edges of your card with the edge of your scissors. When completed, use the blending brush to darken the edges and take the "white" away.

Take a piece of Pecan Pie and emboss with your favorite embossing folder. Any one would do as you will cut out shapes for embellishments with this. Using the left over White Ink run streaks up over the page to add a little more focus.

Cut circles and rings using circle punches with gold, black and the embossed pecan pie cad stock.

Emboss your sentiment of choice in white heat embossing powder on black cardstock.
Arrange your embellishments and attach some with stampin dimensionals and attach your sentiment on stampin dimensionals. Ink the white baker's twine using your inked up blending brush and run over the twine using Pecan Pie ink.
Mount your card front onto a piece of black cardstock measuring 10 x 14.3cms and then mount on your card base.
Now you have made your mixed media card!!!
