Leaves of Holly

Hello all,

Here is the card I made in a recent Facebook Live class.  I love the Leaves of Holly stamp set and I really think my lovely ladies were really taken with that sentiment die. Although there were a few technical difficulties we managed to struggle through.

I used Real Red for the card base, Soft succulent ink for the leaves and Real Red for the berries.  I die cut a border using one of the basic borders and then embossed that piece of paper using the Wintry 3D embossing folder.  I also used adhesive sheets on my cardstock before die cutting the intricate dies.   All the instructions are below as well as all the products used.

MATERIALS:

Basic White cardstock (1 @ 10cm x 14.3cm and 1 @ 8cms x 14.30cms) and another piece measuring approx 6 x 6cms for sentiment etc.

Real Red cardstock for card base measuring 14.9cms x 10.5cms and another small piece to cut berries out of.

METHOD:

  • Fold and burnish Real Red card base in half and put aside.

  • Take one of the Basic White cards measuring 10cms x 14.3cms and die cut a border off one end. Measure in about 4cms from the edge and place your die and run through Cut and Emboss machine.

**(Tip hold your die in place using a piece of masking tape).

  • Using the Wintry 3d embossing folder emboss this piece of cardstock and put aside for now.

  • Take the piece of White cardstock for your card front measuring 10 x 14.3cms and randomly stamp the leaves and berries at one end of the cardstock (Landscape) using Soft Succulent and Real Red inks.

(TIP: Just measure with the embossed cardstock to make sure you have stamp up far enough).

  • On the piece of spare white cardstock, adhere your adhesive sheets to cover the back of this piece of cardstock. stamp your sentiment in versamark and then heat emboss with gold embossing powder.

TIP: Make sure you leave enough space on the cardstock to cut the die around the sentiment.

  • Die cut the sentiment die from this piece as well as your white accents for the berries.

TIP: Ensure you run this through several times to allow for the extra thickness of the adhesive sheet backing. Also the white accents for the berries will be cut from this as well.

(Tip: you could use snowflake accents to the berries if you wish but I found it such a small area it was too much worth a try though).

  • Die cut the backing of the leaves from the sentiment die in soft succulent cardstock.

  • Adhere the soft succulent leaves to the back of the sentiment white leaves by taking off only the amount of adhesive sheet to adhere the leaves to it.

  • Cut the berries out of the real red cardstock

Attach to the white accents by removing the adhesive backing and stick to the red berries.

LET's PUT IT ALTOGETHER NOW:

  • Attach the embossed and bordered white cardstock to the stamped cardstock by using either double sided tape or liquid adhesive

  • Attach the berries on top of the leaves on the sentiment die and then attach the sentiment piece using either foam adhesive sheets or dimensionals

  • Tie a bow and attach using Mini glue dot/s.

  • Attach three Rhinestones

  • Attach your completed card front to the Real Red Card base.
